Day 1. Arrival in Chennai
Your memorable tour in India will commence with your arrival at the Chennai airport. Our representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for your comfortable stay in the city.
Day 2. Chennai
This capital city of Chennai will pleasantly surprise you in every step. The city stands true to its name which is cultural capital of India as the city is houses immense wealth of tradition and heritage. Enlighten yourself from the ancient Dravidian style of architecture at Kapaleshwera Temple and know the British style of architecture at Fort St. George. The pristine Marina beach is instant choice of anyone visiting Chennai. Satisfy the artist in you by a dose of artistic splendors at National Art gallery and seek blessings at the Little Mount shrine.
Day 3. Chennai- Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram (60km)
This morning depart for historic town Mahabalipuram, visiting Kanchipuram enroute. The land of thousand temples, Kanchipuram was the capital of Cholas as far back as 2nd century BC. This place is one of the seven sacred cities of Hindus and also a pilgrimage centre for people of Buddhist and Jaina religion. Resume your drive and reach Mahabalipuram where you will be dropped at the hotel. Followed by few hours of rest you will proceed to explore the highlights of the city. The town has earned a lot of name for the temples of Pallava dynasty dating back to 7th and 8th centuries; the Pancha Ratha Temple, Varah Cave Temple and the Shore Temple being few of them.
Day 4. Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry (134 km)
The erstwhile French colony, Pondicherry would be the next stop to be covered in your journey. The place till today has carefully preserved the French culture which is evident from the cuisine to lifestyle to the architecture. The major sights of this charming town are the Pondicherry Museum, Sir Aurbindo Asharam, Church of the sacred heart of Jesus and the 300 years old Manakula Vinayagar Koli Temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
Day 05: Pondicherry – Chidambaram (64 km) - Kumbakonam (78 km)
This morning hit the roads to reach your next destination that is Kumbakonam. On the way break your journey to explore Chidambaram, the seat of the Cosmic Dancer; dedicated to Lord Nataraja. On arrival in Kumbakonam you will get a sight of skyline dotted with dozens of colorful gopurams. This famous temple town of South India is located amidst the two rivers, Cauvery & Arasalar. Visit the popular Kumbakonam temple in the evening and witness the artistic Dravidian architecture.
Day 06: Kumbakonam- Tanjore (40 KM) - Trichy (60 KM)
This morning you would be driven to another sacred town of Tanjore, popular for Brihdeeshwer Temple constructed thousands years ago. The temple is beautifully constructed in Dravidian style architecture and is adorned with spectacular fresco lined interiors. The Thanjavur Maratha Palace, Murugan Temple and the Royal Palace are the other places of sightseeing. Later you will be chauffeured to Trichy where you would be dropped at supreme hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 07: Trichy – Rameshwaram
Spend the morning in exploring Trichy and visiting the tourist attractions of the city. Trichy's most famed landmark is the Rock Fort situated on the banks of Kaveri River, one of the oldest in the world. The celebrated 1000 years old Ranganathsawamy Temple at Srirangam is a sacred site of people of Hindu religion, dedicated to Lord Vishnu which draws devotees from all over the country. The Jambukeshwarer Temple, Ayyapan Temple and the 7th century Ucchi Pillayar Temple are other notable places of the city. In the evening depart for Rameshwaram.
Day 08: Rameshwaram
Rameshwaram is an island connected to the mainland through Indira Gandhi Bridge. The place is one of the four most revered sites of Hindus known as ‘Chaar Dhaam’. In this region dotted with temples, visit the magnificent Ramanathaswamy temple, which is also one of the 12 Jyotirlingas situated all over the country. You will also visit the Ghanthamathana Parvatham which provides fine view of the island and Dhanushkodi, one of the Tirthas in the island of Rameswaram.
Day 09: Rameshwaram - Madurai (170 km)
This morning enjoy a scenic drive to Madurai. Upon arrival you would be escorted to a fine hotel where the remaining day can be spent in leisure.
Day 10. Madurai
Madurai – the city with great cultural and historical significance is a popular religious destination as well. The city is situated on the banks of river Vagai and houses the ancient Meenakshi Amma Temple which is adorned with sculpted gopurams . The Koodal Azhagar Temple, Pandi Kovli Temple, Thirupparamkunram Murugan Temple are the other gems of the city.
Day 11. Madurai – Periyar (140 km)
After a leisurely breakfast you will be driven to explore Periyar, a beautiful natural abode of many birds and animals and also the spice plantation hub of Kerala. Upon arrival you will be escorted to the hotel where you will freshen up before proceeding for sightseeing tour. Visit the spice plantations in the evening where you will be amazed to see such variety of spices and cloves, cardamom, ginger, chilli, pepper, turmeric being few of them. Do buy few of the spices to take back home. In the evening, explore the wild in their natural turf in this boat safari wherein you may get sights of elephants, leopards, rare lion tailed macaques, sambhar deer and Indian bison. You can even opt for a guided trek through the National Park.
Day 12. Periyar – Alleppey
On this day, get ready for an exquisite experience of staying in a houseboat. You will cruise through the serene palm fringed backwaters to reach Alleppey. Spend the entire day relaxing amidst the pictorial nature and zooming through the rural life while cruising in the houseboat. Relish the authentic South Indian meals cooked and served onboard.
Day 13. Alleppey – Cochin
This morning disembark your houseboat and proceed for the town often sobriequeted as Queen of Arabian Sea. The city houses one of the finest harbors which even attracted the colonists and it was one of the first sites to be colonized. Take a guided tour of the city and visit the historic Fort Kochi, the Mattancherry Palace, Paradesi synagogue, St. Francis Church and see authentic Chinese Fishing nets- all these places hold immense historical wealth which you will discover.
Day 14. Departure
This morning you would be dropped at the airport to board the flight back home.
